Jan Bartos

 

Jan Bartos was born in Poland. Having graduated from the Music Academy in Poznan he worked for ten years with Eric Blot in Cremona, Italy.

He is interested in old and modern Italian violin making and he has the opportunity to examine and takes model and forms of lots of old instruments that have become his models: C. Bergonzi, A. Stradivari, J.B. Guadagnini, Guarneri del Gesu, J. Gagliano  etc.

Since 2006 Jan Bartos has been working in Paris and continues his research into the acoustics, varnish and construction techniques of 18th and 19th century violinmaking.

In 2007 he opened a workshop on the rue du Vertbois, in the Marais, the heart of Paris.

Both young talents and famous musicians appreciate the tonal and aesthetic qualities of his instruments inspired as they are by the important italian makers Stradivarius, Guarnerius Bergonzi and Guadagnini.

Jan's violins have been regular winners of Tone Awards at the past few Violin Society of America violin making competitions,

In 2009 his viola take 4 awards at the International Violinmaking Competitions VIOLA'S 2009 in Paris.
